1 day in a model agency: bookings, castings, projects from 7 AM – 9 PM

What does a modeling agency actually do? A day in the life of a model agency is fast-paced and packed with coordination and communication. Being a model manager means truly loving what you do—because when you’re passionate about your work, it doesn’t feel like a job at all. If you’ve ever been curious about what goes on behind the scenes at a model agency, here’s a glimpse: from early morning bookings and castings to managing projects well into the evening, it’s a full and exciting day from 7 AM to 9 PM.

Overview

7:00 AM – Day begins

8:00 AM – Model agency team gets started

2:00 PM – Castings and model bookings continue

5:00 PM – Final calls of the day

6:00 PM – Reviewing the bigger picture

7:00 – Start of the day

For me (SJW, the owner), the day typically begins at 7 a.m.—often with a coffee at Starbucks or relaxing on a park bench in the sun. It’s a quiet time when I can focus and map out plans for the team and projects for the day and week ahead.

8:00 – Start for the model agency team

The agency team kicks off the day at 8 a.m., starting with checking emails and sorting through messages from clients. We prioritize inquiries, new bookings, and ongoing projects based on deadlines, locations, budgets, and other key details—making sure the most urgent tasks are handled first.

9:00 – Team meeting for the day

Around 9 a.m., we usually have a quick team meeting to go over the day’s agenda. We talk about new model applications (New Faces), upcoming castings and projects, where our models currently are—especially those working abroad for extended periods—plus jobs related to user-generated content and influencer campaigns. We also cover some of the day-to-day tasks like invoicing and other back-office work.

10:00 – Castings and model bookings

Booking kicks off at 10 a.m. and usually moves quickly right up to the lunch break. New job requests come in, get sorted by priority, and are processed immediately. This includes selecting suitable models, preparing briefings, and sending proposals to clients. Sometimes we also run quick e-castings, where models submit short intro videos. On the international side, we often receive booking requests from partner agencies in cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and others for models working abroad.

12:30 – Model applications, scouting

Before lunch, we usually go through all the model applications—sometimes over 100 in a single day. Each one gets about 10 seconds of attention to check key details like face, height, age, location, and extra photos. Out of every 100, maybe two stand out and lead to a conversation. By the end of the month, we typically sign three or four new contracts. Why only a few? Because we’re not aiming to be a massive database of faces—we’re a model management agency. We want to really know and support our models individually, and that’s only possible when we take the time to work closely with each one.

14:00 – Castings and model bookings #2

After lunch, things pick up again around 2 PM with a wave of replies—feedback from models, regular clients, new inquiries, and international partner agencies. This is also when editorial tasks come into play, like coordinating test shoots with photographers interested in working with our New Faces. When a model shows strong potential, the agency may even reach out directly to select photographers. On top of that, content creator and influencer marketing are becoming more and more important in our daily workflow.

15:00 – International: Paris, New York & Co.

For the agency’s international bookers, collaboration with partner agencies around the world is a key part of the job. They exchange New Faces—introducing fresh talent to one another. In fact, around 20% of our models aren’t based in Pakistan but come from fashion capitals like London, Paris, Milan, and Amsterdam. This is where the difference between a global model management agency and a national one really stands out: the work is highly personalized and international, extending from New York to Tokyo to help models, content creators, and influencers build strong, successful careers

16:00 – Applications: In between Gosee, models in the agency

Gosee appointments are also held at the agency, where models—often accompanied by their parents—come in for auditions. During these meetings, we walk them through the job details, explain the casting process, discuss potential collaborations, and talk about what to expect if they succeed internationally. These sessions can happen either in person at the agency or via video call.

17:00 – Last Calls

Around 5 p.m., the team slowly calls it a day.

18:00 – The Bigger Pitcture

After that, I return to the café and focus on the Big Picture—the overall vision. This is where ideas like The Model Book, NM Couture made entirely from recycled materials, NM Creator, and the Model Podcast come to life.

21:00 – My working day comes to an end

The workday usually wraps up around 9 pm for most of the team. A day at a model agency is full of challenges and variety—and we absolutely love what we do!

That’s it! Finally, a look at big, big campaigns and exclusive contracts.
